Trump Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” he addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
