Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
