Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a variety of guests.

In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

My son told me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

Their display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
