PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
