Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song blends a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
